'Seeing her frightened, pale like Pandu, and despondent, Vyasa, the son of Satyavati, spoke these words to the princess.' ॥ 1-100-16 ॥

tAM bhItAM pANDusaMkAzAM viSaNNAM parekSya pArthiva vayAsaH satyavatI putra idaM vacanama abravIta ॥ 1-100-16 ॥

यस्मात पाण्डुत्वम आपन्ना विरूपं परेक्ष्य माम अपि तस्माद एष सुतस तुभ्यं पाण्डुर एव भविष्यति ॥ १-१००-१७ ॥

'Since you have acquired the condition of Pandu and beholding me who is not uncomely, due to this, your son will indeed be Pandu-like.' ॥ 1-100-17 ॥

yasmAta pANDutvama ApannA virUpaM parekSya mAma api tasmAda eSa sutasa tubhyaM pANDura eva bhaviSyati ॥ 1-100-17 ॥

नाम चास्य तद एवेह भविष्यति शुभानने इत्य उक्त्वा स निराक्रामद भगवान ऋषिसत्तमः ॥ १-१००-१८ ॥

'Having said this, the illustrious sage left, affirming that the child would indeed be named after this prophecy, thus leaving the auspicious-faced princess.' ॥ 1-100-18 ॥

'Then, after he departed, Satyavati beheld the son and spoke to her mother about the child's albinism.' ॥ 1-100-19 ॥
