ततः कुमारं सा देवी पराप्तकालम अजीजनत पाण्डुं लक्षणसंपन्नं दीप्यमानम इव शरिया तस्य पुत्रा महेष्वासा जज्ञिरे पञ्च पाण्डवाः ॥ १-१००-२१ ॥
'Ambalika, then, when her time came, brought forth a son of pale complexion. Blazing with beauty the child was endued with all auspicious marks. Indeed, it was this child who afterward became the father of those mighty archers, the Pandavas.' ॥ 1-100-21 ॥

tataH kumAraM sA devI parAptakAlama ajIjanata pANDuM lakSaNasaMpannaM dIpyamAnama iva zariyA tasya putrA maheSvAsA jajJire paJca pANDavAH ॥ 1-100-21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऋतुकाले ततॊ जयेष्ठां वधूं तस्मै नययॊजयत सा तु रूपं च गन्धं च महर्षेः परविचिन्त्य तम नाकरॊद वचनं देव्या भयात सुरसुतॊपमा ॥ १-१००-२२ ॥
'Then, during the proper season, the eldest queen was presented to him. Reflecting upon the appearance and fragrance of the great sage, she, resembling the daughters of the gods in beauty, did not comply with the words of the queen out of fear.' ॥ 1-100-22 ॥

RtukAle tatò jayeSThAM vadhUM tasmai nayayòjayata sA tu rUpaM ca gandhaM ca maharSeH paravicintya tama nAkaròda vacanaM devyA bhayAta surasutòpamA ॥ 1-100-22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः सवैर भूषणैर दासीं भूषयित्वाप्सर उपमाम परेषयाम आस कृष्णाय ततः काशिपतेः सुता ॥ १-१००-२३ ॥
'Thereafter, adorning the maid with all kinds of ornaments resembling an Apsara, Satyavati sent her to Vyasa, the son of Kashi.' ॥ 1-100-23 ॥

'The maid, upon reaching the sage, respectfully greeted him and, having been permitted, duly sat down, serving him with honor and care.' ॥ 1-100-24 ॥

'Through their union that night, the sage found satisfaction. Accompanied by the maid, the great sage spent the night, pleased with her company.' ॥ 1-100-25 ॥
