तस्य तद वचनं शरुत्वा मातापुत्रम अथाब्रवीत नान्धः कुरूणां नृपतिर अनुरूपस तपॊधन ॥ १-१००-११ ॥
'Hearing those words, Vyasa replied to his mother, "The Kuru king will not be blind; he will possess asceticism appropriate to a monarch."' ॥ 1-100-11 ॥

tasya tada vacanaM zarutvA mAtAputrama athAbravIta nAndhaH kurUNAM nRpatira anurUpasa tapòdhana ॥ 1-100-11 ॥

'Upon hearing about the future child's blindness, Satyavati expressed her concerns, questioning how a blind individual could serve as the guardian of his kin and bring honor to his ancestral lineage. She implored Vyasa to ensure the Kuru dynasty would have another ruler.' ॥ 1-100-12 ॥

'Upon Vyasa's agreement with 'So be it,' he departed. Subsequently, the eldest princess of Kosala duly gave birth to a son who was blind.' ॥ 1-100-13 ॥

'Accordingly, following that same procedure, the great sage Vyasa arrived and approached the princess Ambalika. Seeing the sage, she felt despondent, resembling Pandu in appearance, and approached him.' ॥ 1-100-15 ॥
