तस्य तद वचनं शरुत्वा मातापुत्रम अथाब्रवीत नान्धः कुरूणां नृपतिर अनुरूपस तपॊधन ।। १-१००-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Hearing those words, Vyasa replied to his mother, "The Kuru king will not be blind; he will possess asceticism appropriate to a monarch."' ।। 1-100-11 ।।

english translation

tasya tada vacanaM zarutvA mAtAputrama athAbravIta nAndhaH kurUNAM nRpatira anurUpasa tapòdhana || 1-100-11 ||

जञातिवंशस्य गॊप्तारं पितॄणां वंशवर्धनम दवितीयं कुरुवंशस्य राजानं दातुम अर्हसि ।। १-१००-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'Upon hearing about the future child's blindness, Satyavati expressed her concerns, questioning how a blind individual could serve as the guardian of his kin and bring honor to his ancestral lineage. She implored Vyasa to ensure the Kuru dynasty would have another ruler.' ।। 1-100-12 ।।

स तथेति परतिज्ञाय निश्चक्राम महातपाः सापि कालेन कौसल्या सुषुवे ऽनधं तम आत्मजम ।। १-१००-१३ ।।

'Upon Vyasa's agreement with 'So be it,' he departed. Subsequently, the eldest princess of Kosala duly gave birth to a son who was blind.' ।। 1-100-13 ।।

sa tatheti paratijJAya nizcakrAma mahAtapAH sApi kAlena kausalyA suSuve 'nadhaM tama Atmajama || 1-100-13 ||

पुनर एव तु सा देवी परिभाष्य सनुषां ततः ऋषिम आवाहयत सत्या यथापूर्वम अनिन्दिता ।। १-१००-१४ ।।

'Soon after Satyavati, O chastiser of foes, summoned Vyasa, after having secured the assent of her daughter-in-law.' ।। 1-100-14 ।।

punara eva tu sA devI paribhASya sanuSAM tataH RSima AvAhayata satyA yathApUrvama aninditA || 1-100-14 ||

ततस तेनैव विधिना महर्षिस ताम अपद्यत अम्बालिकाम अथाभ्यागाद ऋषिं दृष्ट्वा च सापि तम विषण्णा पाण्डुसंकाशा समपद्यत भारत ।। १-१००-१५ ।।

'Accordingly, following that same procedure, the great sage Vyasa arrived and approached the princess Ambalika. Seeing the sage, she felt despondent, resembling Pandu in appearance, and approached him.' ।। 1-100-15 ।।

tatasa tenaiva vidhinA maharSisa tAma apadyata ambAlikAma athAbhyAgAda RSiM dRSTvA ca sApi tama viSaNNA pANDusaMkAzA samapadyata bhArata || 1-100-15 ||
