The body of Bharata is like a horse, and it is both truth and nectar. Just as the nine bricks (of the altar) are arranged, and just as the Brahmin is established among the two-legged beings.'।। 1-1-201 ।।

'Just as butter resides within curd, the Brahmana stands preeminent among bipeds, the Aranyaka holds a special status among the Vedas, and nectar is considered the foremost among medicines. Similarly, the sea holds eminence among bodies of water, and the cow is paramount among quadrupeds. In this manner, the Bharata is acclaimed as the foremost among historical narratives..'।। 1-1-202 ।।

'Combining history and Puranas with the Vedas makes this Veda complete. Fearing the loss of knowledge due to the limited capacity of human memory, I shall present it in another form.'।। 1-1-204 ।।

'A learned person, by reciting this Veda (knowledge) known as the Bhagavad Gita, comprehends its meaning and gains the intended benefits. Surely, even the sin of killing one's relatives will be dispelled without a doubt.'।। 1-1-205 ।।
