हरदानाम उदधिः शरेष्ठॊ गौर वरिष्ठा चतुष्पदाम यथैतानि वरिष्ठानि तथा भरतम उच्यते ॥ १-१-२०२ ॥
'Just as butter resides within curd, the Brahmana stands preeminent among bipeds, the Aranyaka holds a special status among the Vedas, and nectar is considered the foremost among medicines. Similarly, the sea holds eminence among bodies of water, and the cow is paramount among quadrupeds. In this manner, the Bharata is acclaimed as the foremost among historical narratives '॥ 1-1-202 ॥
