इतिहास पुराणाभ्यां वेदं समुपबृंहयेत बिभेत्य अल्पश्रुताद वेदॊ माम अयं परतरिष्यति ।। १-१-२०४ ।।

'Combining history and Puranas with the Vedas makes this Veda complete. Fearing the loss of knowledge due to the limited capacity of human memory, I shall present it in another form.'।। 1-1-204 ।।

english translation

itihAsa purANAbhyAM vedaM samupabRMhayeta bibhetya alpazrutAda vedò mAma ayaM paratariSyati || 1-1-204 ||
