मत्स्यगन्धॊ महान आसीत पुरा मम जुगुप्सितः तम अपास्य शुभं गन्धम इमं परादात स मे मुनिः ॥ १-९९-११ ॥
'Before this there was a revolting fishy odor in my body; but the Rishi dispelled it and gave me my present fragrance.' ॥ 1-99-11 ॥
english translation
ततॊ माम आह स मुनिर गर्भम उत्सृज्य मामकम दवीपे ऽसया एव सरितः कन्यैव तवं भविष्यसि ॥ १-९९-१२ ॥
'The Rishi also told me that by bringing forth his child on an island of the river, I would continue (to be) a virgin.' ॥ 1-99-12 ॥
english translation
पाराशर्यॊ महायॊगी स बभूव महान ऋषिः कन्या पुत्रॊ मम पुरा दवैपायन इति समृतः ॥ १-९९-१३ ॥
'And the child of Parasara so born of me in my maidenhood hath become a great Rishi endued with large ascetic powers and known by the name of Dwaipayana (the island-born).' ॥ 1-99-13 ॥
english translation
यॊ वयस्य वेदांश चतुरस तपसा भगवान ऋषिः लॊके वयासत्वम आपेदे कार्ष्ण्यात कृष्णत्वम एव च ॥ १-९९-१४ ॥
'That illustrious Rishi having by his ascetic power divided the Vedas into four parts hath come to be called on earth by the name of Vyasa (the divider or arranger), and for his dark color, Krishna (the dark).' ॥ 1-99-14 ॥

सत्यवादी शम परस तपस्वी दग्धकिल्बिषः स नियुक्तॊ मया वयक्तं तवया च अमितद्युते भरातुः कषेत्रेषु कल्याणम अपत्यं जनयिष्यति ॥ १-९९-१५ ॥
'A paragon of truthfulness in speech, devoid of worldly desires, a formidable ascetic who has absolved himself of all sins, he departed with his father soon after birth. Designated by both you and me, that radiant sage will undoubtedly bless the wives of your brother with virtuous offspring.' ॥ 1-99-15 ॥
