धर्मयुक्तस्य धर्मात्मन पितुर आसीत तरी मम सा कदा चिद अहं तत्र गता परथमयौवने ।। १-९९-६ ।।

'My father was a virtuous man. For virtue's sake, he had kept a (ferry) boat.' ।। 1-99-6 ।।

'I went to ply that boat. It so happened that the great and wise Rishi Parasara, that foremost of all virtuous men, came, and betook himself to my boat for crossing the Yamuna.' ।। 1-99-7 ।।

'He, having reached the ford of the Yamuna, then spoke to me, the foremost among sages, in a gentle and sweet manner, relieving my distress beforehand.' ।। 1-99-8 ।।

'While I was ferrying him across the river, the sage, inflamed with desire, spoke to me in gentle tones. The fear of my father weighed heavily on my mind, yet the dread of the sage's potential curse took precedence. Securing a priceless boon from him left me with no choice but to acquiesce to his entreaties.' ।। 1-99-9 ।।
