एतच छरुत्वा वचस तस्या देव्याः परियचिकीर्षया पृथ्व आद्यैर भरातृभिः सार्धं दयौस तदा तां जहार गाम ॥ १-९३-२६ ॥
'Upon hearing his consort's words, Dyu, motivated by a wish to indulge her, clandestinely took the cow, with the assistance of his brothers, Prithu among them. Indeed, under the directive of his lotus-eyed wife, Dyu complied with her request, momentarily disregarding the formidable ascetic virtues of the sage who was the cow's owner.' ॥ 1-93-26 ॥

तया कमलपत्राक्ष्या नियुक्तॊ दयौस तदा नृपः ऋषेस तस्य तपस तीव्रं न शशाक निरीक्षितुम हृता गौः सा तदा तेन परपातस तु न तर्कितः ॥ १-९३-२७ ॥
'Appointed by her with lotus-petal eyes, Dyu, the king at that time, could not bear to witness the intense penance of that sage. When he took the cow away, the reason for his action was not scrutinized.' ॥ 1-93-27 ॥

अथाश्रमपदं पराप्तः फलान्य आदाय वारुणिः न चापश्यत गां तत्र सवत्सां काननॊत्तमे ॥ १-९३-२८ ॥
'When the son of Varuna returned to his asylum in the evening with fruits he had collected, he beheld not the cow with her calf there.' ॥ 1-93-28 ॥

ततः स मृगयाम आस वने तस्मिंस तपॊधनः नाध्यगच्छच च मृगयंस तां गां मुनिर उदारधीः ॥ १-९३-२९ ॥
'He began to search for them in the woods, but when the great ascetic of superior intelligence found not his cow on search.' ॥ 1-93-29 ॥
english translation
जञात्वा तथापनीतां तां वसुभिर दिव्यदर्शनः ययौ करॊधवशं सद्यः शशाप च वसूंस तदा ॥ १-९३-३० ॥
'Using his ascetic vision, the sage perceived that the cow had indeed been stolen by the Vasus. His anger flared up immediately, prompting him to curse them.' ॥ 1-93-30 ॥
