यस्मान मे वसवॊ जह्रुर गां वै दॊग्ध्रीं सुवालधिम तस्मात सर्वे जनिष्यन्ति मानुषेषु न संशयः ॥ १-९३-३१ ॥

'The sage cursed the Vasus, declaring, "Since the Vasus have stolen my cow, which yields sweet milk and has a beautiful tail, they shall undoubtedly be born on earth!"' ॥ 1-93-31 ॥

english translation

yasmAna me vasavò jahrura gAM vai dògdhrIM suvAladhima tasmAta sarve janiSyanti mAnuSeSu na saMzayaH ॥ 1-93-31 ॥

एवं शशाप भगवान वसूंस तान मुनिसत्तमः वशं कॊपस्य संप्राप्त आपवॊ भरतर्षभ ॥ १-९३-३२ ॥

'Thus, the venerable sage cursed the Vasus in this manner. O best among sages, the wrathful curse then took its effect on the Vasus.' ॥ 1-93-32 ॥

evaM zazApa bhagavAna vasUMsa tAna munisattamaH vazaM kòpasya saMprApta Apavò bharatarSabha ॥ 1-93-32 ॥

शप्त्वा च तान महाभागस तपस्य एव मनॊ दधे एवं स शप्तवान राजन वसून अष्टौ तपॊधनः महाप्रभावॊ बरह्मर्षिर देवान रॊषसमन्वितः ॥ १-९३-३३ ॥

'After cursing them, the greatly fortunate sage once again devoted his mind to penance. Thus, O king, the powerful sage, rich in asceticism, and a Brahma-rishi of great influence, cursed the eight Vasus, filled with righteous anger.' ॥ 1-93-33 ॥

zaptvA ca tAna mahAbhAgasa tapasya eva manò dadhe evaM sa zaptavAna rAjana vasUna aSTau tapòdhanaH mahAprabhAvò barahmarSira devAna ròSasamanvitaH ॥ 1-93-33 ॥

अथाश्रमपदं पराप्य तं सम भूयॊ महात्मनः शप्ताः सम इति जानन्त ऋषिं तम उपचक्रमुः ॥ १-९३-३४ ॥

'And addressing the Rishi, O bull among kings, they endeavored to pacify him.' ॥ 1-93-34 ॥

athAzramapadaM parApya taM sama bhUyò mahAtmanaH zaptAH sama iti jAnanta RSiM tama upacakramuH ॥ 1-93-34 ॥

परसादयन्तस तम ऋषिं वसवः पार्थिवर्षभ न लेभिरे च तस्मात ते परसादम ऋषिसत्तमात आपवात पुरुषव्याघ्र सर्वधर्मविशारदात ॥ १-९३-३५ ॥

'But they failed, O tiger among men, to obtain grace from Apava— that Rishi conversant, with all rules of virtue.' ॥ 1-93-35 ॥
