उवाच च स धर्मात्मा सप्त यूयं धरादयः अनुसंवत्सराच छापमॊक्षं वै समवाप्स्यथ ॥ १-९३-३६ ॥
'The virtuous Apava then spoke, "You Vasus, along with Dhava and others, have incurred my curse. However, you shall be relieved from it within a year of your incarnation among humans.' ॥ 1-93-36 ॥
english translation
अयं तु यत्कृते यूयं मया शप्ताः स वत्स्यति दयौस तदा मानुषे लॊके दीर्घकालं सवकर्मणा ॥ १-९३-३७ ॥
'However, Dyu, for whose action you have been cursed by me, will have to live on Earth for a significant duration as a consequence of his sinful deed.' ॥ 1-93-37 ॥
english translation
नानृतं तच चिकीर्षामि युष्मान करुद्धॊ यद अब्रुवम न परजास्यति चाप्य एष मानुषेषु महामनाः ॥ १-९३-३८ ॥
'I will not render futile the words spoken in anger," said the sage. "Dyu, while residing on Earth, shall indeed remain childless.' ॥ 1-93-38 ॥
english translation
भविष्यति च धर्मात्मा सर्वशास्त्रविशारदः पितुः परियहिते युक्तः सत्री भॊगान वर्जयिष्यति एवम उक्त्वा वसून सर्वाञ जगाम भगवान ऋषिः ॥ १-९३-३९ ॥
'He shall indeed be virtuous and knowledgeable in the scriptures. He shall dutifully serve his father, but he must abstain from the company of women.' ॥ 1-93-39 ॥
english translation
ततॊ माम उपजग्मुस ते समस्ता वसवस तदा अयाचन्त च मां राजन वरं स च मया कृतः जाताञ जातान परक्षिपास्मान सवयं गङ्गे तवम अम्भसि ॥ १-९३-४० ॥
'Then all you Vasus came to me, O king, and begged for my forgiveness. I granted them a boon: "As each of you will be born, you will be freed from the curse when you come into contact with the water of the river Ganga."' ॥ 1-93-40 ॥
