'Vaisampayana said, King Yayati, the son of Nahusha, accompanied by his minister Puru, roamed around the kingdom, ensuring the welfare of his subjects.' ।। 1-80-1 ।।

यथाकामं यथॊत्साहं यथाकालं यथासुखम धर्माविरुद्धान राजेन्द्रॊ यथार्हति स एव हि ।। १-८०-२ ।।

'As per your desire, with full enthusiasm, and according to the appropriate time and comfort, the king acted justly, in line with his duties, and not contrary to righteousness.' ।। 1-80-2 ।।

देवान अतर्पयद यज्ञैः शराद्धैस तद्वत पितॄन अपि दीनान अनुग्रहैर इष्टैः कामैश च दविजसत्तमान ।। १-८०-३ ।।

'He pleased the gods through his sacrifices, the ancestors through funeral rites, the needy through his charities, and the learned Brahmins by fulfilling their desires.' ।। 1-80-3 ।।

devAna atarpayada yajJaiH zarAddhaisa tadvata pitRRna api dInAna anugrahaira iSTaiH kAmaiza ca davijasattamAna || 1-80-3 ||

अतिथीन अन्नपानैश च विशश च परिपालनैः आनृशंस्येन शूद्रांश च दस्यून संनिग्रहेण च ।। १-८०-४ ।।

'He provided all guests entitled to hospitality with food and drink, offered protection to the Vaisyas, and showed kindness to the Sudras.' ।। 1-80-4 ।।

धर्मेण च परजाः सर्वा यथावद अनुरञ्जयन ययातिः पालयाम आस साक्षाद इन्द्र इवापरः ।। १-८०-५ ।।

'The king also dealt out appropriate punishments to all wrongdoers. Yayati, satisfying every segment of his populace, safeguarded them with righteousness akin to another Indra.' ।। 1-80-5 ।।
