स राजा सिंहविक्रान्तॊ युवा विषयगॊचरः अविरॊधेन धर्मस्य चचार सुखम उत्तमम ॥ १-८०-६ ॥
'The monarch, possessing the strength of a lion and the vigor of youth, enjoyed every pleasure within the bounds of righteousness. He found great happiness in fulfilling all his desires with righteousness as his guide.' ॥ 1-80-6 ॥

sa rAjA siMhavikrAntò yuvA viSayagòcaraH aviròdhena dharmasya cacAra sukhama uttamama ॥ 1-80-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस संप्राप्य शुभान कामांस तृप्तः खिन्नश च पार्थिवः कालं वर्षसहस्रान्तं सस्मार मनुजाधिपः ॥ १-८०-७ ॥
'Having attained all his desirable objectives and feeling content, the king, Partha, became melancholic. Reflecting upon a thousand years having passed, the ruler of men pondered deeply.' ॥ 1-80-7 ॥

sa saMprApya zubhAna kAmAMsa tRptaH khinnaza ca pArthivaH kAlaM varSasahasrAntaM sasmAra manujAdhipaH ॥ 1-80-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरिसंख्याय कालज्ञः कलाः काष्ठाश च वीर्यवान पूर्णं मत्वा ततः कालं पूरुं पुत्रम उवाच ह ॥ १-८०-८ ॥
'The king, well-versed in the intricacies of time, and adept at observing proper Kalas and Kashthas, indulged in blissful encounters with Viswachi. These rendezvous occurred alternately in the enchanting gardens of Indra, the celestial city of Alaka belonging to Kuvera, and atop the northern peak of Mount Meru. As the righteous monarch observed the completion of a thousand years, he called upon his son Puru and spoke to him as follows:' ॥ 1-80-8 ॥

parisaMkhyAya kAlajJaH kalAH kASThAza ca vIryavAna pUrNaM matvA tataH kAlaM pUruM putrama uvAca ha ॥ 1-80-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयथाकामं यथॊत्साहं यथाकालम अरिंदम सेविता विषयाः पुत्र यौवनेन मया तव ॥ १-८०-९ ॥
'O son, as the oppressor of foes, you have allowed me to relish the pleasures of life fully, embracing each according to its season and to the extent of my desires and capabilities.' ॥ 1-80-9 ॥

yathAkAmaM yathòtsAhaM yathAkAlama ariMdama sevitA viSayAH putra yauvanena mayA tava ॥ 1-80-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपूरॊ परीतॊ ऽसमि भद्रं ते गृहाणेदं सवयौवनम राज्यं चैव गृहाणेदं तवं हि मे परियकृत सुतः ॥ १-८०-१० ॥
'I am pleased, my dear, to accept your youth. Accept also this kingdom, for you are indeed my cherished son.' ॥ 1-80-10 ॥

pUrò parItò 'sami bhadraM te gRhANedaM savayauvanama rAjyaM caiva gRhANedaM tavaM hi me pariyakRta sutaH ॥ 1-80-10 ॥
