पूर्णे वर्षसहस्रे तु परतिदास्यामि यौवनम सवं चैव परतिपत्स्यामि पाप्मानं जरया सह ॥ १-७९-२६ ॥
'After a full thousand years, I will restore your youth and reclaim my decrepitude.' ॥ 1-79-26 ॥

[व] एवम उक्तः परत्युवाच पूरुः पितरम अञ्जसा यथात्थ मां महाराज तत करिष्यामि ते वचः ॥ १-७९-२७ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, Puru, upon hearing the king's instructions, responded respectfully, "Your wish shall be my command, O monarch."' ॥ 1-79-27 ॥

परतिपत्स्यामि ते राजन पाप्मानं जरया सह गृहाण यौवनं मत्तश चर कामान यथेप्सितान ॥ १-७९-२८ ॥
'"I shall indeed take upon myself your decrepitude, O king, along with its weaknesses. Accept my youth willingly and indulge in the pleasures you desire," replied Puru obediently.' ॥ 1-79-28 ॥

जरयाहं परतिच्छन्नॊ वयॊ रूपधरस तव यौवनं भवते दत्त्वा चरिष्यामि यथात्थ माम ॥ १-७९-२९ ॥
'"I shall gladly take your weakness and decrepitude while granting you my youth. I will live as you instruct," said Puru humbly.' ॥ 1-79-29 ॥

[य] पूरॊ परीतॊ ऽसमि ते वत्स परीतश चेदं ददामि ते सर्वकामसमृद्धा ते परजा राज्ये भविष्यति ॥ १-७९-३० ॥
'Yayati continued, "O Puru, I am pleased with you. As a token of my gratitude, I grant you this boon. May all the desires of your subjects in the kingdom be fulfilled." After saying this, Yayati, the great ascetic, transferred his decrepitude to Puru's body, all the while remembering Kavya.' ॥ 1-79-30 ॥
