जानामि हि तवां संशान्तं वीर्यवन्तं यशस्विनम तस्मान मां पतिताम अस्मात कूपाद उद्धर्तुम अर्हसि ॥ १-७३-२१ ॥
'I recognize you as calm, powerful, and illustrious. Therefore, you should rescue me from this pit into which I have fallen.' ॥ 1-73-21 ॥

[व] ताम अथ बराह्मणीं सत्रीं च विज्ञाय नहुषात्मजः गृहीत्वा दक्षिणे पाणाव उज्जहार ततॊ ऽवटात ॥ १-७३-२२ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'King Yayati, learning that she was a Brahmana's daughter, raised her from that well by catching hold of her right hand.' ॥ 1-73-22 ॥

उद्धृत्य चैनां तरसा तस्मात कूपान नराधिपः आमन्त्रयित्वा सुश्रॊणीं ययातिः सवपुरं ययौ ॥ १-७३-२३ ॥
'And the king, promptly lifting her from the well, and casting a glance at her graceful figure, courteously escorted her back to his capital.' ॥ 1-73-23 ॥

[देव] तवरितं घूर्णिके गच्छ सर्वम आचक्ष्व मे पितुः नेदानीं हि परवेक्यामि नगरं वृषपर्वणः ॥ १-७३-२४ ॥
'When Nahusha's son departed, Devayani, with her faultless features, filled with sorrow, addressed her maid Ghurnika, who had just arrived. She said, "Ghurnika, swiftly convey to my father the full account of all that has occurred. I will not venture into Vrishaparvan's city at this moment."' ॥ 1-73-24 ॥

[व] सा तु वै तवरितं गत्वा घूर्णिकासुरमन्दिरम दृष्ट्वा काव्यम उवाचेदं संभ्रमाविष्टचेतना ॥ १-७३-२५ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'Ghurnika, thus commanded, repaired quickly to the mansion, of the Asura chief, where she saw Kavya and spoke unto him with her perception dimmed by anger.' ॥ 1-73-25 ॥
