[व] ततॊ गच्छन महाबाहुर एकॊ ऽमात्यान विसृज्य तान नापश्यद आश्रमे तस्मिंस तम ऋषिं संशितव्रतम ॥ १-६५-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana narrated, 'As the monarch advanced, he gradually left behind even his diminished retinue at the hermitage's entrance. Upon entering alone, he encounters the sage Kanwa, known for his austere vows.' ॥ 1-65-1 ॥
english translation
[va] tatò gacchana mahAbAhura ekò 'mAtyAna visRjya tAna nApazyada Azrame tasmiMsa tama RSiM saMzitavratama ॥ 1-65-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसॊ ऽपश्यमानस तम ऋषिं शून्यं दृष्ट्वा तम आश्रमम उवाच क इहेत्य उच्चैर वनं संनादयन्न इव ॥ १-६५-२ ॥
'And not seeing the Rishi and finding that the abode was empty, he called loudly, saying, 'What ho, who is here?'' ॥ 1-65-2 ॥
english translation
sò 'pazyamAnasa tama RSiM zUnyaM dRSTvA tama Azramama uvAca ka ihetya uccaira vanaM saMnAdayanna iva ॥ 1-65-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशरुत्वाथ तस्य तं शब्दं कन्या शरीर इव रूपिणी निश्चक्रामाश्रमात तस्मात तापसी वेषधारिणी ॥ १-६५-३ ॥
'And the sound of his voice was echoed back. And hearing the sound of his voice, there came out of Rishi's abode a maiden beautiful as Sri herself but dressed as an ascetic's daughter.' ॥ 1-65-3 ॥

zarutvAtha tasya taM zabdaM kanyA zarIra iva rUpiNI nizcakrAmAzramAta tasmAta tApasI veSadhAriNI ॥ 1-65-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसा तं दृष्ट्वैव राजानं दुःषन्तम असितेक्षणा सवागतं त इति कषिप्रम उवाच परतिपूज्य च ॥ १-६५-४ ॥
'And the black-eyed fair one, as she saw king Dushmanta, bade him welcome and received him duly.' ॥ 1-65-4 ॥

sA taM dRSTvaiva rAjAnaM duHSantama asitekSaNA savAgataM ta iti kaSiprama uvAca paratipUjya ca ॥ 1-65-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआसनेनार्चयित्वा च पाद्येनार्घ्येण चैव हि पप्रच्छानामयं राजन कुशलं च नराधिपम ॥ १-६५-५ ॥
'Demonstrating proper courtesy, she extended a seat, provided water for foot washing, and presented Arghya to the monarch, all while inquiring about his health and well-being.' ॥ 1-65-5 ॥

AsanenArcayitvA ca pAdyenArghyeNa caiva hi papracchAnAmayaM rAjana kuzalaM ca narAdhipama ॥ 1-65-5 ॥
