मरुतां तु गणाद विद्धि संजातम अरिमर्दनम विराटं नाम राजर्षिं परराष्ट्र परतापनम ॥ १-६१-७६ ॥
'And that royal sage also, Virata by name, the scorcher of the kingdoms of others, and the great oppressor of all foes, was born of the portion of the same gods.' ॥ 1-61-76 ॥

marutAM tu gaNAda viddhi saMjAtama arimardanama virATaM nAma rAjarSiM pararASTra paratApanama ॥ 1-61-76 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअरिष्टायास तु यः पुत्रॊ हंस इत्य अभिविश्रुतः स गन्धर्वपतिर जज्ञे कुरुवंशविवर्धनः ॥ १-६१-७७ ॥
'That son of Arishta who was known by the name of Hansa, was born in the Kuru race and became the monarch of the Gandharvas.' ॥ 1-61-77 ॥

ariSTAyAsa tu yaH putrò haMsa itya abhivizrutaH sa gandharvapatira jajJe kuruvaMzavivardhanaH ॥ 1-61-77 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptधृतराष्ट्र इति खयातः कृष्णद्वैपायनाद अपि दीर्घबाहुर महातेजाः परज्ञा चक्षुर नराधिपः मातुर दॊषाद ऋषेः कॊपाद अन्ध एव वयजायत ॥ १-६१-७८ ॥
'He who was known as Dhritarashtra born of the seed of Krishna-Dwaipayana, and gifted with long arms and great energy, also a monarch, of the prophetic eye, became blind in consequence of the fault of his mother and the wrath of the Rishi.' ॥ 1-61-78 ॥

dhRtarASTra iti khayAtaH kRSNadvaipAyanAda api dIrghabAhura mahAtejAH parajJA cakSura narAdhipaH mAtura dòSAda RSeH kòpAda andha eva vayajAyata ॥ 1-61-78 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअत्रेस तु सुमहाभागं पुत्रं पुत्रवतां वरम विदुरं विद्धि लॊके ऽसमिञ जातं बुद्धिमतां वरम ॥ १-६१-७९ ॥
'And, O king, you should know that Vidura, renowned as the first among all virtuous men and the very embodiment of Justice, was the highly fortunate son of the Rishi Atri on earth.' ॥ 1-61-79 ॥

atresa tu sumahAbhAgaM putraM putravatAM varama viduraM viddhi lòke 'samiJa jAtaM buddhimatAM varama ॥ 1-61-79 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकलेर अंशात तु संजज्ञे भुवि दुर्यॊधनॊ नृपः दुर्बुद्धिर दुर्मतिश चैव कुरूणाम अयशः करः ॥ १-६१-८० ॥
'The evil-minded and wicked king Duryodhana, the destroyer of the fair fame of the Kurus, was born of a portion of Kali on earth.' ॥ 1-61-80 ॥
