धृतराष्ट्र इति खयातः कृष्णद्वैपायनाद अपि दीर्घबाहुर महातेजाः परज्ञा चक्षुर नराधिपः मातुर दॊषाद ऋषेः कॊपाद अन्ध एव वयजायत ॥ १-६१-७८ ॥

sanskrit

'He who was known as Dhritarashtra born of the seed of Krishna-Dwaipayana, and gifted with long arms and great energy, also a monarch, of the prophetic eye, became blind in consequence of the fault of his mother and the wrath of the Rishi.' ॥ 1-61-78 ॥

english translation

dhRtarASTra iti khayAtaH kRSNadvaipAyanAda api dIrghabAhura mahAtejAH parajJA cakSura narAdhipaH mAtura dòSAda RSeH kòpAda andha eva vayajAyata ॥ 1-61-78 ॥
