[स] यथा सूतॊ लॊहिताक्षॊ महात्मा; पौराणिकॊ वेदितवान पुरस्तात स राजानं पराह पृष्टस तदानीं; यथाहुर विप्रास तद्वद एतन नृदेव ॥ १-५१-६ ॥
'Sauti continued, "The venerable Suta named Lohitaksha, well-versed in the Puranas, had previously made this declaration. When queried by the king on this particular occasion, he reiterated to the monarch, 'Sire, it is indeed as the Brahmanas have affirmed.'" ॥ 1-51-6 ॥
english translation
[sa] yathA sUtò lòhitAkSò mahAtmA; paurANikò veditavAna purastAta sa rAjAnaM parAha pRSTasa tadAnIM; yathAhura viprAsa tadvada etana nRdeva ॥ 1-51-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुराणम आगम्य ततॊ बरवीम्य अहं; दत्तं तस्मै वरम इन्द्रेण राजन वसेह तवं मत्सकाशे सुगुप्तॊ; न पावकस तवां परदहिष्यतीति ॥ १-५१-७ ॥
'Having arrived after studying the Puranas, I now narrate them to you, O King. Bestow upon me the boon granted by Indra, for you reside securely in my keeping, well-protected. The fire will not harm you, for I will ensure your safety.' ॥ 1-51-7 ॥
english translation
purANama Agamya tatò baravImya ahaM; dattaM tasmai varama indreNa rAjana vaseha tavaM matsakAze suguptò; na pAvakasa tavAM paradahiSyatIti ॥ 1-51-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतच छरुत्वा दीक्षितस तप्यमान; आस्ते हॊतारं चॊदयन कर्मकाले हॊता च यत्तः स जुहाव मन्त्रैर; अथॊ इन्द्रः सवयम एवाजगाम ॥ १-५१-८ ॥
'Sauti continued, 'Hearing this, the king installed in the sacrifice became very sorry and urged the Hotri to do his duty. And as the Hotri, with mantras, began to pour clarified butter into the fire Indra himself appeared on the scene.' ॥ 1-51-8 ॥
english translation
etaca charutvA dIkSitasa tapyamAna; Aste hòtAraM còdayana karmakAle hòtA ca yattaH sa juhAva mantraira; athò indraH savayama evAjagAma ॥ 1-51-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविमानम आरुह्य महानुभावः; सर्वैर देवैः परिसंस्तूयमानः बलाहकैश चाप्य अनुगम्यमानॊ; विद्याधरैर अप्सरसां गणैश च ॥ १-५१-९ ॥
'Mounting a splendid celestial chariot, the greatly revered one ascended, being praised by all the gods. Accompanied by powerful serpents and followed by Vidhyadharas, Apsaras, and various divine beings, he journeyed on.' ॥ 1-51-9 ॥
english translation
vimAnama Aruhya mahAnubhAvaH; sarvaira devaiH parisaMstUyamAnaH balAhakaiza cApya anugamyamAnò; vidyAdharaira apsarasAM gaNaiza ca ॥ 1-51-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्यॊत्तरीये निहितः स नागॊ; भयॊद्विग्नः शर्म नैवाभ्यगच्छत ततॊ राजा मन्त्रविदॊ ऽबरवीत पुनः; करुद्धॊ वाक्यं तक्षकस्यान्तम इच्छन ॥ १-५१-१० ॥
'And Takshaka anxious with fear, hid himself in the upper garment of Indra and was not visible. Then the king in his anger again said unto his mantra-knowing Brahmanas these words, bent upon the destruction of Takshaka.' ॥ 1-51-10 ॥

tasyòttarIye nihitaH sa nAgò; bhayòdvignaH zarma naivAbhyagacchata tatò rAjA mantravidò 'baravIta punaH; karuddhò vAkyaM takSakasyAntama icchana ॥ 1-51-10 ॥
