तपसा दयॊतितात्मानं सवेष्व अङ्गेषु यतं तथा शुभाचारं शुभकथं सुस्थिरं तम अलॊलुपम ।। १-४६-६ ।।

sanskrit

'His self radiant with asceticism, engaged in austerities in all his limbs, following virtuous conduct, speaking auspicious words, and possessing unwavering stability, he was steadfast and unwavering.' ।। 1-46-6 ।।

english translation

tapasA dayòtitAtmAnaM saveSva aGgeSu yataM tathA zubhAcAraM zubhakathaM susthiraM tama alòlupama || 1-46-6 ||

'He was free from any form of meanness and envy, being an elderly sage committed to the vow of silence. He served as a refuge for all creatures in times of distress.' ।। 1-46-7 ।।

'The father of the Rishi, who was insulted by your father, cursed him in retaliation for the disrespectful act.' ।। 1-46-8 ।।

'Observe the potency of my penance! As per my utterance, the serpent Takshaka, possessing formidable energy and potent venom, will, in the next seven nights, consume with its poison the individual who callously laid the lifeless snake upon my blameless father.' ।। 1-46-10 ।।

anAgasi gurau yò me mRtaM sarpama avAsRjata taM nAgasa takSakaH karuddhasa tejasA sAdayiSyati saptarAtrAda itaH pApaM pazya me tapasò balama || 1-46-10 ||
