तेन गत्वा नृपश्रेष्ठ नगरे ऽसमिन निवेदितम यथावृत्तं तु तत सर्वं तक्षकस्य दविजस्य च ॥ १-४६-३१ ॥
'And, O king of kings, he was revived with the tree by the power of the Brahmana. That man, a Brahmana's menial, having come to us, represented fully everything as it happened between Takshaka and the Brahmana.' ॥ 1-46-31 ॥
english translation
tena gatvA nRpazreSTha nagare 'samina niveditama yathAvRttaM tu tata sarvaM takSakasya davijasya ca ॥ 1-46-31 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतत ते कथितं राजन यथावृत्तं यथा शरुतम शरुत्वा तु नृपशार्दूल परकुरुष्व यथेप्सितम ॥ १-४६-३२ ॥
'Majestic sovereign, we have faithfully recounted all that has unfolded before us and resonated within our ears. Having presented this account, O eminent ruler, we humbly seek your wise decree on the path that should unfold henceforth.' ॥ 1-46-32 ॥

etata te kathitaM rAjana yathAvRttaM yathA zarutama zarutvA tu nRpazArdUla parakuruSva yathepsitama ॥ 1-46-32 ॥

'Sauti continued, 'King Janamejaya, having listened to the words of his ministers, was sorely afflicted with grief, and began to weep.' ॥ 1-46-33 ॥

[sa] mantriNAM tu vacaH zarutvA sa rAjA janamejayaH paryatapyata duHkhArtaH paratyapiMSata kare karama ॥ 1-46-33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनिःश्वासम उष्णम असकृद दीर्घं राजीवलॊचनः मुमॊचाश्रूणि च तदा नेत्राभ्यां परततं नृपः उवाच च महीपालॊ दुःखशॊकसमन्वितः ॥ १-४६-३४ ॥
'And the monarch began to squeeze his hands. And the lotus-eyed king began to breathe a long and hot breath, shed tears, and shrieked aloud. And possessed with grief and sorrow, and shedding copious tears, and touching water according to the form, the monarch spake.' ॥ 1-46-34 ॥

niHzvAsama uSNama asakRda dIrghaM rAjIvalòcanaH mumòcAzrUNi ca tadA netrAbhyAM paratataM nRpaH uvAca ca mahIpAlò duHkhazòkasamanvitaH ॥ 1-46-34 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशरुत्वैतद भवतां वाक्यं पितुर मे सवर्गतिं परति निश्चितेयं मम मतिर या वै तां मे निबॊधत ॥ १-४६-३५ ॥
'Having heard your words, I am certain that my father has attained the heavenly abode. My conviction is firm, and now I request you to confirm the same to me.' ॥ 1-46-35 ॥

zarutvaitada bhavatAM vAkyaM pitura me savargatiM parati nizciteyaM mama matira yA vai tAM me nibòdhata ॥ 1-46-35 ॥
