अथ वापि समग्रेण तरन्तु तपसा मम भवन्तः सर्व एवास्मात कामम एवं विधीयताम ।। १-४१-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Or, if needed, let the entire calamity be averted through my asceticism. All of you, may your desires be fulfilled in this manner.' ।। 1-41-11 ।।

english translation

atha vApi samagreNa tarantu tapasA mama bhavantaH sarva evAsmAta kAmama evaM vidhIyatAma || 1-41-11 ||

hk transliteration

[पितरह] ऋद्धॊ भवान बरह्म चारी यॊ नस तरातुम इहेच्छति न तु विप्राग्र्य तपसा शक्यम एतद वयपॊहितुम ।। १-४१-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'The ancestors spoke, 'Noble Brahmacharin, your intention to alleviate our suffering is acknowledged. However, O preeminent among Brahmins, our distress cannot be alleviated by your ascetic practices.'" ।। 1-41-12 ।।

english translation

[pitaraha] Rddhò bhavAna barahma cArI yò nasa tarAtuma ihecchati na tu viprAgrya tapasA zakyama etada vayapòhituma || 1-41-12 ||

hk transliteration

अस्ति नस तात तपसः फलं परवदतां वर संतानप्रक्षयाद बरह्मन पतामॊ निरये ऽशुचौ ।। १-४१-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'O child, foremost among speakers, we have indeed reaped the fruits of our asceticism. However, O Brahmana, it is due to the loss of our progeny that we are descending into this unholy hell.' ।। 1-41-13 ।।

english translation

asti nasa tAta tapasaH phalaM paravadatAM vara saMtAnaprakSayAda barahmana patAmò niraye 'zucau || 1-41-13 ||

hk transliteration

लम्बताम इह नस तात न जञानं परतिभाति वै येन तवां नाभिजानीमॊ लॊके विख्यातपौरुषम ।। १-४१-१४ ।।

sanskrit

'The revered grandfather himself has proclaimed the great merit of having a son. As we stand on the brink of being cast into this pit, our thoughts are clouded. Hence, O child, although your manhood is renowned on earth, in our current state, we fail to recognize you.' ।। 1-41-14 ।।

english translation

lambatAma iha nasa tAta na jaJAnaM paratibhAti vai yena tavAM nAbhijAnImò lòke vikhyAtapauruSama || 1-41-14 ||

hk transliteration

ऋद्धॊ भवान महाभागॊ यॊ नः शॊच्यान सुदुःखितान शॊचस्य उपेत्य कारुण्याच छृणु ये वै वयं दविज ।। १-४१-१५ ।।

sanskrit

'Venerable and fortunate are you, displaying such kindness as you grieve for us, pitiable and greatly afflicted. O Brahmana, kindly listen as we reveal our identity.' ।। 1-41-15 ।।

english translation

Rddhò bhavAna mahAbhAgò yò naH zòcyAna suduHkhitAna zòcasya upetya kAruNyAca chRNu ye vai vayaM davija || 1-41-15 ||
