सॊ ऽहं पश्यामि वक्तव्यं तवयि धर्मभृतां वर पुत्रत्वं बालतां चैव तवावेक्ष्य च साहसम ॥ १-३८-६ ॥
'O foremost adherent of righteous principles, recognizing that you are both my son and still in your youth, and observing your impulsive nature, it becomes clear to me that I must offer you guidance.' ॥ 1-38-6 ॥
english translation
स तवं शम युतॊ भूत्वा वन्यम आहारम आहरन चर करॊधम इमं तयक्त्वा नैवं धर्मं परहास्यसि ॥ १-३८-७ ॥
'Live, my son, with a disposition towards peace, nourishing yourself with the fruits and roots of the forest. Quell your anger, and do not diminish the fruits of your ascetic endeavors in this manner.' ॥ 1-38-7 ॥
english translation
करॊधॊ हि धर्मं हरति यतीनां दुःखसंचितम ततॊ धर्मविहीनानां गतिर इष्टा न विद्यते ॥ १-३८-८ ॥
'Verily, anger diminishes the virtue acquired by ascetics through great effort. Consequently, for those lacking in virtue, the state of blessedness remains unattainable.' ॥ 1-38-8 ॥

शम एव यतीनां हि कषमिणां सिद्धिकारकः कषमावताम अयं लॊकः परश चैव कषमावताम ॥ १-३८-९ ॥
'Embracing a tranquil demeanor unfailingly bestows success upon forgiving ascetics. Hence, strive to cultivate a forgiving temperament, conquer your passions, and consistently lead a life of peace.' ॥ 1-38-9 ॥

तस्माच चरेथाः सततं कषमा शीलॊ जितेन्द्रियः कषमया पराप्स्यसे लॊकान बरह्मणः समनन्तरान ॥ १-३८-१० ॥
'Through forgiveness, you shall attain realms beyond the grasp of even Brahman.' ॥ 1-38-10 ॥
