न चापश्यन मृगं राजा चरंस तस्मिन महावने पितरं ते स दृष्ट्वैव पप्रच्छानभिभाषिणम ।। १-३७-६ ।।

'And the king lost sight of the animal in that vast wilderness. Upon seeing your father, he promptly approached him and inquired.' ।। 1-37-6 ।।

english translation

na cApazyana mRgaM rAjA caraMsa tasmina mahAvane pitaraM te sa dRSTvaiva papracchAnabhibhASiNama || 1-37-6 ||

तं सथाणुभूतं तिष्ठन्तं कषुत्पिपासा शरमातुरः पुनः पुनर मृगं नष्टं पप्रच्छ पितरं तव ।। १-३७-७ ।।

'Thy sire was then observing the vow of silence. Oppressed by hunger, thirst and labour, the prince again and again asked thy sire sitting motionless, about the missing deer.' ।। 1-37-7 ।।

english translation

taM sathANubhUtaM tiSThantaM kaSutpipAsA zaramAturaH punaH punara mRgaM naSTaM papraccha pitaraM tava || 1-37-7 ||

स च मौन वरतॊपेतॊ नैव तं परत्यभाषत तस्य राजा धनुष्कॊट्या सर्पं सकन्धे समासृजत ।। १-३७-८ ।।

'The sage, being under the vow of silence, returned no reply. The king thereupon placed the snake on thy sire's shoulder with the end of his bow.' ।। 1-37-8 ।।

sa ca mauna varatòpetò naiva taM paratyabhASata tasya rAjA dhanuSkòTyA sarpaM sakandhe samAsRjata || 1-37-8 ||

शृङ्गिंस तव पिताद्यासौ तथैवास्ते यतव्रतः सॊ ऽपि राजा सवनगरं परतियातॊ गजाह्वयम ।। १-३७-९ ।।

'O Sringin, thy sire engaged in devotion is in the same posture still. And the king also hath gone to his capital which is named after the elephant!' ।। 1-37-9 ।।

english translation

zRGgiMsa tava pitAdyAsau tathaivAste yatavrataH sò 'pi rAjA savanagaraM paratiyAtò gajAhvayama || 1-37-9 ||

[स] शरुत्वैवम ऋषिपुत्रस तु दिवं सतब्ध्वेव विष्ठितः कॊपसंरक्त नयनः परज्वलन्न इव मन्युना ।। १-३७-१० ।।

'Sauti continued, 'Having heard of a dead snake placed upon his (father's) shoulders, the son of the Rishi, his eyes reddened with anger, blazed up with rage.' ।। 1-37-10 ।।
