आविष्टः स तु कॊपेन शशाप नृपतिं तदा वार्य उपस्पृश्य तेजस्वी करॊधवेगबलात कृतः ॥ १-३७-११ ॥
'Wrathfully, the mighty sage cursed the king, performing ablutions and directing his fiery anger towards him.' ॥ 1-37-11 ॥
english translation
[षृ] यॊ ऽसौ वृद्धस्य तातस्य तथा कृच्छ्रगतस्य च सकन्धे मृतम अवास्राक्षीत पन्नगं राजकिल्बिषी ॥ १-३७-१२ ॥
'The king, who, in his sinful act, put a dead snake on the shoulders of my lean and aged father.' ॥ 1-37-12 ॥
english translation
तं पापम अतिसंक्रुद्धस तक्षकः पन्नगॊत्तमः आशीविषस तिग्मतेजा मद्वाक्यबलचॊदितः ॥ १-३७-१३ ॥
'That insulter of Brahmanas and tarnisher of the fame of the Kurus shall be taken within seven nights hence to the regions of Yama (Death) by the snake Takshaka, the powerful king of serpents, stimulated thereto by the strength of my words!'' ॥ 1-37-13 ॥
english translation
सप्तरात्रादितॊ नेता यमस्य सदनं परति दविजानाम अवमन्तारं कुरूणाम अयशः करम ॥ १-३७-१५ ॥
'he one appointed for seven nights, the foremost among serpents, will reach the abode of Yama, causing great ignominy to the Kuru dynasty, the abode of ascetics.' ॥ 1-37-14 ॥
english translation
[स] इति शप्त्वा नृपं करुद्धः शृङ्गी पितरम अभ्ययात आसीनं गॊचरे तस्मिन वहन्तं शवपन्नगम ॥ १-३७-१५ ॥
'Sauti continued, 'And having thus cursed (the king) from anger, Sringin went to his father, and saw the sage sitting in the cow pen, bearing the dead snake.' ॥ 1-37-15 ॥
