तेनैवम उत्कॊ जनमेजयस तं परत्युवाच भगवंस तथा भविष्यतीति ।। १-३-१६ ।।

'Having been addressed in this manner, Janamejaya replied, "So be it, revered sage. It shall be as you have foreseen."' ।। 1-3-16 ।।

english translation

tenaivama utkò janamejayasa taM paratyuvAca bhagavaMsa tathA bhaviSyatIti || 1-3-16 ||

स तं पुरॊहितम उपादायॊपावृत्तॊ भरातॄन उवाच मयायं वृत उपाध्यायः यद अयं बरूयात तत कार्यम अविचारयद्भिर इति ।। १-३-१७ ।।

तेनैवम उक्ता भरातरस तस्य तथा चक्रुः स तथा भरातॄन संदिश्य तक्षशिलां परत्यभिप्रतस्थे तं च देशं वशे सथापयाम आस ।। १-३-१८ ।।

And accepting him for his Purohita, he returned to his capital; and he then addressed his brothers saying, 'This is the person I have chosen for my spiritual master; whatsoever he may say must be complied with by you without examination.' And his brothers did as they were directed. And giving these directions to his brothers, the king marched towards Takshyashila and brought that country under his authority. ।। 1-3-18 ।।

tenaivama uktA bharAtarasa tasya tathA cakruH sa tathA bharAtRRna saMdizya takSazilAM paratyabhipratasthe taM ca dezaM vaze sathApayAma Asa || 1-3-18 ||

स एकं शिष्यम आरुणिं पाञ्चाल्यं परेषयाम आस गच्छ केदारखण्डं बधानेति ।। १-३-२० ।।

'Ayoda-Dhaumya had three disciples, Upamanyu, Aruni, and Veda. And the Rishi bade one of these disciples, Aruni of Panchala, to go to the Kedar region and perform austerities.' ।। 1-3-20 ।।

sa ekaM ziSyama AruNiM pAJcAlyaM pareSayAma Asa gaccha kedArakhaNDaM badhAneti || 1-3-20 ||
