स उपाध्यायेन संदिष्ट आरुणिः पाञ्चाल्यस तत्र गत्वा तत केदारखण्डं बद्धुं नाशक्नॊत ॥ १-३-२१ ॥
'Having been directed by his teacher, Aruni from Panchala went to the Kedar region but faced challenges in securing the desired results despite his efforts.' ॥ 1-3-21 ॥

sa upAdhyAyena saMdiSTa AruNiH pAJcAlyasa tatra gatvA tata kedArakhaNDaM baddhuM nAzaknòta ॥ 1-3-21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस कलिश्यमानॊ ऽपश्यद उपायम भवत्व एवं करिष्यामीति ॥ १-३-२२ ॥
'Feeling disheartened, he saw a solution and thought, "I will find a way to overcome this obstacle." ' ॥ 1-3-22 ॥

sa kalizyamAnò 'pazyada upAyama bhavatva evaM kariSyAmIti ॥ 1-3-22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस तत्र संविवेश केदारखण्डे शयाने तस्मिंस तद उदकं तस्थौ ॥ १-३-२३ ॥
'He then went down into the breach and lay down himself there. And the water was thus confined. ' ॥ 1-3-23 ॥

sa tatra saMviveza kedArakhaNDe zayAne tasmiMsa tada udakaM tasthau ॥ 1-3-23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः कदा चिद उपाध्याय आयॊदॊ धौम्यः शिष्यान अपृच्छत कव आरुणिः पाञ्चाल्यॊ गत इति ॥ १-३-२४ ॥
'And sometime after, the preceptor Ayoda-Dhaumya asked his other disciples where Aruni of Panchala was.' ॥ 1-3-24 ॥

tataH kadA cida upAdhyAya Ayòdò dhaumyaH ziSyAna apRcchata kava AruNiH pAJcAlyò gata iti ॥ 1-3-24 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptते परत्यूचुः भगवतैव परेषितॊ गच्छ केदारखण्डं बधानेति ॥ १-३-२५ ॥
'They replied, "O revered teacher, he was directed by you to go to the Kedar region and perform austerities." ' ॥ 1-3-25 ॥

te paratyUcuH bhagavataiva pareSitò gaccha kedArakhaNDaM badhAneti ॥ 1-3-25 ॥
