तत्रेध्मानयने शक्रॊ नियुक्तः कश्यपेन ह मुनयॊ वालखिल्याश च ये चान्ये देवता गणाः ।। १-१७-६ ।।

sanskrit

'And Indra was appointed by Kasyapa to bring the sacrificial fuel, and with him those ascetics the Valakhilyas, and all the other deities.' ।। 1-27-6 ।।

english translation

tatredhmAnayane zakrò niyuktaH kazyapena ha munayò vAlakhilyAza ca ye cAnye devatA gaNAH || 1-17-6 ||

'And the lord Indra, taking up according to his strength, a weight that was mountain-like, brought it without any fatigue.' ।। 1-27-7 ।।

'And he saw on the way some Rishis, of bodies of the measure of the thumb, all together carrying one single stalk of a Palasa (Butea frondosa) leaf.' ।। 1-27-8 ।।

परलीनान सवेष्व इवाङ्गेषु निराहारांस तपॊधनान कलिश्यमानान मन्दबलान गॊष्पदे संप्लुतॊदके ।। १-१७-९ ।।

'And those Rishis were, from want of food, very lean and almost merged in their own bodies. And they were so weak that they were much afflicted when sunk in the water that collected in an indentation on the road produced by the hoof of a cow.' ।। 1-27-9 ।।

paralInAna saveSva ivAGgeSu nirAhArAMsa tapòdhanAna kalizyamAnAna mandabalAna gòSpade saMplutòdake || 1-17-9 ||

'Purandara, filled with pride in his strength, observed them with astonishment and, mocking them with laughter, swiftly left them behind, further adding insult by effortlessly passing over their heads.' ।। 1-27-10 ।।
