तस्य बृंहित शब्देन कूर्मॊ ऽपय अन्तर्जले शयः उत्थितॊ ऽसौ महाकायः कृत्स्नं संक्षॊभयन सरः ॥ १-१५-२१ ॥
'Hearing his roar, the tortoise also of huge body, living within the waters, cometh out, agitating the lake violently.' ॥ 1-25-21 ॥
english translation
तं दृष्ट्वावेष्टित करः पतत्य एष गजॊ जलम दन्तहस्ताग्र लाङ्गूलपादवेगेन वीर्यवान ॥ १-१५-२२ ॥
'Observing the tortoise, the elephant swiftly plunges into the water, curling his trunk.' ॥ 1-25-22 ॥

तं विक्षॊभयमाणं तु सरॊ बहु झषाकुलम कूर्मॊ ऽपय अभ्युद्यत शिरा युद्धायाभ्येति वीर्यवान ॥ १-१५-२३ ॥
'Possessing formidable strength, he stirs the lake's waters vigorously with the movement of his tusks, the front part of his trunk, tail, and feet, creating ripples among the abundant fishes. And the tortoise also of great strength, with upraised head, cometh forward for an encounter.' ॥ 1-25-23 ॥

षड उच्छ्रितॊ यॊजनानि गजस तद दविगुणायतः कूर्मस तरियॊजनॊत्सेधॊ दशयॊजनमण्डलः ॥ १-१५-२४ ॥
'The elephant stands at a height of six yojanas, with a circumference twice that measure. In comparison, the tortoise has a height of three yojanas and a circumference of ten.' ॥ 1-25-24 ॥

ताव एतौ युद्धसंमत्तौ परस्परजयैषिणौ उपयुज्याशु कर्मेदं साधयेप्सितम आत्मनः ॥ १-१५-२५ ॥
'Devour both of them who are fiercely entangled in the conflict and are determined to kill each other. Afterward, fulfill the task you desire.' ॥ 1-25-25 ॥
