[सू] सुपर्णेनॊह्यमानास ते जग्मुस तं देशम आशु वै सागराम्बुपरिक्षिप्तं पक्षिसंघ निनादितम ।। १-२३-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Sauti said, 'And then the Nagas drenched by that shower, became exceedingly glad. And borne by that bird of fair feathers, they soon arrived at the island. That island had been fixed by the Creator of the Universe as the abode of the makaras.' ।। 1-23-1 ।।

english translation

[sU] suparNenòhyamAnAsa te jagmusa taM dezama Azu vai sAgarAmbuparikSiptaM pakSisaMgha ninAditama || 1-23-1 ||

'On arriving there with Garuda, they saw there a beautiful forest washed by the waters of the sea and resounding with the music of winged choirs. And there were clusters of trees all around laden with various fruits and flowers. And there were also fair mansions all around; and many tanks full of lotuses.' ।। 1-23-2 ।।

'The sky was scented by the fragrance of blossoming trees, carrying the essence of the Malaya mountains, and it was adorned with many a tree that grew only on the hills of Malaya. These trees, by their tallness, seemed to reach the very heavens, gracing the surroundings with their presence.' ।। 1-23-4 ।।

किरद्भिर इव तत्रस्थान नागान पुष्पाम्बुवृष्टिभिः मनः संहर्षणं पुण्यं गन्धर्वाप्सरसां परियम नानापक्षिरुतं रम्यं कद्रू पुत्र परहर्षणम ।। १-२३-५ ।।

'That forest, beloved by the Gandharvas, was always a source of pleasure for them. It was filled with bees intoxicated by the honey they collected. The sight of all these enchanting elements was exceedingly delightful. Due to the presence of numerous charming features, that forest was fair, delightful, and sacred. Resonating with the melodies of various birds, it brought great joy to the sons of Kadru.' ।। 1-23-5 ।।

kiradbhira iva tatrasthAna nAgAna puSpAmbuvRSTibhiH manaH saMharSaNaM puNyaM gandharvApsarasAM pariyama nAnApakSirutaM ramyaM kadrU putra paraharSaNama || 1-23-5 ||
