भूतं हित्वा भविष्ये ऽरथे यॊ ऽवलम्बेत मन्दधीः अवमन्येत तं लॊकॊ यथेच्छसि तथा कुरु ॥ १-२२४-१५ ॥

sanskrit

'And even those I possess are in jeopardy. One who forsakes what he has for the sake of what he may gain is considered wicked. The world disregards and insults such a person.' ॥ 1-224-15 ॥

english translation

bhUtaM hitvA bhaviSye 'rathe yò 'valambeta mandadhIH avamanyeta taM lòkò yathecchasi tathA kuru ॥ 1-224-15 ॥
