पुण्यानि चैव तीर्थानि ददर्श भरतर्षभ स गङ्गा दवारम आसाद्य निवेशम अकरॊत परभुः ॥ १-२०६-६ ॥
'Finally, upon reaching the source of the Ganges, the mighty hero contemplated settling there.' ॥ 1-206-6 ॥
english translation
तत्र तस्याद्भुतं कर्म शृणु मे जनमेजय कृतवान यद विशुद्धात्मा पाण्डूनां परवरॊ रथी ॥ १-२०६-७ ॥
'Listen now, O Janamejaya, to a marvelous deed performed by that foremost among the sons of Pandu, of noble soul, while residing there.' ॥ 1-206-7 ॥
english translation
निविष्टे तत्र कौन्तेये बराह्मणेषु च भारत अग्निहॊत्राणि विप्रास ते परादुश्चक्रुर अनेकशः ॥ १-२०६-८ ॥
'When that son of Kunti, O Bharata, along with the Brahmanas who accompanied him, settled in that region, the latter conducted numerous Agnihotra rituals.' ॥ 1-206-8 ॥
english translation
तेषु परबॊध्यमानेषु जवलितेषु हुतेषु च कृतपुष्पॊपहारेषु तीरान्तर गतेषु च ॥ १-२०६-९ ॥
'As sacred fires were lit and tenderly nurtured, Their flames leaping high, fed with reverent care, With fragrant blooms offered, devotion unfettered, They reached the water's edge, a scene most fair.' ॥ 1-206-9 ॥

कृताभिषेकैर विद्वद्भिर नियतैः सत्पथि सथितैः शुशुभे ऽतीव तद राजन गङ्गा दवारं महात्मभिः ॥ १-२०६-१० ॥
'Performing ablutions, offering oblations of clarified butter with mantras, and adorning those fires with floral offerings, that region where the Ganges entered the plains became exceedingly beautiful.' ॥ 1-206-10 ॥
