करिष्यावेदम इति यन महद अभ्युत्थितं तपः युवयॊर हेतुनानेन नामरत्वं विधीयते ॥ १-२०१-२१ ॥
'And since you have undertaken these severe ascetic austerities solely out of desire for sovereignty, I cannot grant you the boon of immortality.' ॥ 1-201-21 ॥
english translation
तरैलॊक्यविजयार्थाय भवद्भ्याम आस्थितं तपः हेतुनानेन दैत्येन्द्रौ न वां कामं करॊम्य अहम ॥ १-२०१-२२ ॥
'Your penances were aimed even at conquering the three worlds. Therefore, O mighty Daityas, it is for this reason that I cannot fulfill your desire.' ॥ 1-201-22 ॥
english translation
[सुन्दौपसुन्दाव] तरिषु लॊकेषु यद भूतं किं चित सथावरजङ्गमम सर्वस्मान नौ भयं न सयाद ऋते ऽनयॊन्यं पितामह ॥ १-२०१-२३ ॥
'Narada continued, "Upon hearing Brahman's words, Sunda and Upasunda said, 'O Grandsire, then let there be no fear for us from any created being, animate or inanimate, in the three worlds, except each other!' ॥ 1-201-23 ॥
english translation
[पितामह] यत परार्थितं यथॊक्तं च कामम एतद ददानि वाम मृत्यॊर विधानम एतच च यथावद वां भविष्यति ॥ १-२०१-२४ ॥
'The Grandsire then said, 'I grant you the desire you have asked for, as well as what was stated earlier. The decree of death shall also be as you wish.'' ॥ 1-201-24 ॥
english translation
[नारद] ततः पितामहॊ दात्त्वा वरम एतत तदा तयॊः निवर्त्य तपसस तौ च बरह्मलॊकं जगाम ह ॥ १-२०१-२५ ॥
'Granting them this boon, the Grandsire caused them to cease their asceticism and returned to his realm.' ॥ 1-201-25 ॥
