अन्यॊन्यं परति च करॊधॊ युधिष्ठिर किरीटिनॊः दवैरथे यत्र पार्थेन हतः कर्णॊ महारथः ।। १-२-१७१ ।।

' In the fierce duel between the two mighty warriors, Karna and Yudhishthira, both displayed intense anger towards each other. Eventually, in that battlefield, the valiant Karna, adorned with a radiant diadem, met his end at the hands of Arjuna.' ।। 1-2-171 ।।

' The eighth Parva, known as the Karna Parva, is delineated with the insights of the thoughtful Bharata. It comprises eighty-one chapters and four thousand nine hundred and ten shlokas.' ।। 1-2-172 ।।

' Then hath been recited the wonderful Parva called Salya. After all the great warriors had been slain, the king of Madra became the leader of the (Kaurava) army.' ।। 1-2-173 ।।
