सप्तमं भारते पर्व महद एतद उदाहृतम अत्र ते पृथिवीपालाः परायशॊ निधनं गताः दरॊण पर्वणि ये शूरा निर्दिष्टाः पुरुषर्षभाः ।। १-२-१६६ ।।

sanskrit

' This is the great seventh Parva of the Bharata in which all the heroic chiefs and princes mentioned were sent to their account. ' ।। 1-2-166 ।।

english translation

saptamaM bhArate parva mahada etada udAhRtama atra te pRthivIpAlAH parAyazò nidhanaM gatAH daròNa parvaNi ye zUrA nirdiSTAH puruSarSabhAH || 1-2-166 ||

अध्यायानां शतं परॊक्तम अध्यायाः सप्ततिस तथा अष्टौ शलॊकसहस्राणि तथा नव शतानि च ।। १-२-१६७ ।।

sanskrit

' The number of sections in this is one hundred and seventy. The number of slokas as composed in the Drona Parva by Rishi Vyasa, the son of Parasara and the possessor of true knowledge after much meditation, is eight thousand, nine hundred and nine. ' ।। 1-2-167 ।।
