यत्रास्य मन्युर उद्भूतॊ येन दयूतम अकारयत यत्र धर्मसुतं दयूते शकुनिः कितवॊ ऽजयत ॥ १-२-१०१ ॥
'This section details the growing resentment of Duryodhana and the ensuing arrangements for the fateful game of dice. It unfolds with Yudhishthira's unfortunate defeat in the artful hands of Shakuni.' ॥ 1-2-101 ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptयत्र दयूतार्णवे मग्नान दरौपदी नौर इवार्णवात तारयाम आस तांस तीर्णाञ जञात्वा दुर्यॊधनॊ नृपः पुनर एव ततॊ दयूते समाह्वयत पाण्डवान ॥ १-२-१०२ ॥
'Dhritarashtra's intervention to rescue Draupadi, submerged in the distressing aftermath of the gambling, parallels the act of salvaging a boat tossed amidst tempestuous waves. Despite this, Duryodhana persistently endeavors to entice Yudhishthira back into the perilous game.' ॥ 1-2-102 ॥

yatra dayUtArNave magnAna daraupadI naura ivArNavAta tArayAma Asa tAMsa tIrNAJa jaJAtvA duryòdhanò nRpaH punara eva tatò dayUte samAhvayata pANDavAna ॥ 1-2-102 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतत सर्वं सभा पर्व समाख्यातं महात्मना अध्यायाः सप्ततिर जञेयास तथा दवौ चात्र संख्यया ॥ १-२-१०३ ॥
'These constitute what has been called by the great Vyasa the Sabha Parva. This parva is dividedinto seventh-eight sections, O best of Brahmanas, of two thousand, five hundred and seven slokas.' ॥ 1-2-103 ॥

etata sarvaM sabhA parva samAkhyAtaM mahAtmanA adhyAyAH saptatira jaJeyAsa tathA davau cAtra saMkhyayA ॥ 1-2-103 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशलॊकानां दवे सहस्रे तु पञ्च शलॊकशतानि च शलॊकाश चैकादश जञेयाः पर्वण्य अस्मिन परकीर्तिताः ॥ १-२-१०४ ॥
'In this Parva, there are two thousand plus five hundred verses,And also eleven stanzas, thus renowned in this section.' ॥ 1-2-104 ॥

zalòkAnAM dave sahasre tu paJca zalòkazatAni ca zalòkAza caikAdaza jaJeyAH parvaNya asmina parakIrtitAH ॥ 1-2-104 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअतः परं तृतीयं तु जञेयम आरण्यकं महत पौरानुगमनं चैव धर्मपुत्रस्य धीमतः ॥ १-२-१०५ ॥
'Then comes the third Parva called Aranyaka (relating to the forest) This Parva treats of the wending of the Pandavas to the forest and the citizens, following the wise Yudhishthira.' ॥ 1-2-105 ॥
