धर्मे चानवमौ राजन सत्यतायां च भारत रामाद दाशरथेश चैव गयाच चैव न संशयः ॥ १-१९७-६ ॥

'Certainly, O king of Bharata's lineage, in virtue and truthfulness, they are no less than Rama, the son of Dasaratha, and Gaya.' ॥ 1-197-6 ॥

english translation

dharme cAnavamau rAjana satyatAyAM ca bhArata rAmAda dAzaratheza caiva gayAca caiva na saMzayaH ॥ 1-197-6 ॥

न चॊक्तवन्ताव अश्रेयः पुरस्ताद अपि किं चन न चाप्य अपकृतं किं चिद अनयॊर लक्ष्यते तवयि ॥ १-१९७-७ ॥

'They have never before given you any bad advice, and likewise, O monarch, you have never harmed them.' ॥ 1-197-7 ॥

english translation

na còktavantAva azreyaH purastAda api kiM cana na cApya apakRtaM kiM cida anayòra lakSyate tavayi ॥ 1-197-7 ॥

ताव इमौ पुरुषव्याघ्राव अनागसि नृप तवयि न मन्त्रयेतां तवच छरेयः कथं सत्यपराक्रमौ ॥ १-१९७-८ ॥

'Therefore, why would these lions among men, who are always truthful, give you wicked advice, especially when you have never harmed them?' ॥ 1-197-8 ॥

tAva imau puruSavyAghrAva anAgasi nRpa tavayi na mantrayetAM tavaca chareyaH kathaM satyaparAkramau ॥ 1-197-8 ॥

परज्ञावन्तौ नरश्रेष्ठाव अस्मिँल लॊके नराधिप तवन्निमित्तम अतॊ नेमौ किं चिज जिह्मं वदिष्यतः इति मे नैष्ठिकी बुद्धिर वर्तते कुरुनन्दन ॥ १-१९७-९ ॥

'Endowed with wisdom, O king, these foremost of men will never offer you deceitful counsel. O scion of the Kuru dynasty, I firmly believe that these two, well-versed in all principles of righteousness, will never, for the sake of wealth, utter anything that betrays a bias or partisanship.' ॥ 1-197-9 ॥

parajJAvantau narazreSThAva asmi~la lòke narAdhipa tavannimittama atò nemau kiM cija jihmaM vadiSyataH iti me naiSThikI buddhira vartate kurunandana ॥ 1-197-9 ॥

न चार्थहेतॊर धर्मज्ञौ वक्ष्यतः पक्षसंश्रितम एतद धि परमं शरेयॊ मेनाते तव भारत ॥ १-१९७-१० ॥

'What they have advised, O Bharata, I deem highly beneficial for you. Undoubtedly, O monarch, the Pandavas are as much your sons as Duryodhana and others. Hence, those ministers who counsel anything detrimental to the Pandavas are not truly considering your best interests.' ॥ 1-197-10 ॥
