सा तत्र यॊषा रुदती जलार्थिनी; गङ्गां देवीं वयवगाह्यावतिष्ठत तस्याश्रु बिन्दुः पतितॊ जले वै; तत पद्मम आसीद अथ तत्र काञ्चनम ॥ १-१८९-११ ॥
'Arriving at the source from where the perennial goddess Ganga flows, Indra saw a woman radiant like fire. She had come there to fetch water and was bathing in the stream, weeping continuously. The tears she shed, falling into the water, were transforming into golden lotuses.' ॥ 1-189-11 ॥
