ताव उभाव अप्य अनिर्देश्यौ लाघवाज जयतां वरौ अयुध्येतां सुसंरब्धाव अन्यॊन्यविजयैषिणौ ।। १-१८१-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Then Karna and Arjuna, both foremost of victorious warriors, desirous of vanquishing each other, fought madly on. ' ।। 1-181-11 ।।

english translation

tAva ubhAva apya anirdezyau lAghavAja jayatAM varau ayudhyetAM susaMrabdhAva anyònyavijayaiSiNau || 1-181-11 ||

hk transliteration

कृते परतिकृतं पश्य पश्य बाहुबलं च मे इति शूरार्थ वचनैर आभाषेतां परस्परम ।। १-१८१-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'The lightness of hand they both displayed was such that, enveloped by each other's shower of arrows, they became invisible to the spectators of their encounter. 'Behold the strength of my arms.''Mark, how I have counteracted that feat,'--these were the words, intelligible to heroes alone, in which they addressed each other.' ।। 1-181-12 ।।

english translation

kRte paratikRtaM pazya pazya bAhubalaM ca me iti zUrArtha vacanaira AbhASetAM parasparama || 1-181-12 ||

hk transliteration

ततॊ ऽरजुनस्य भुजयॊर वीर्यम अप्रतिमं भुवि जञात्वा वैकर्तनः कर्णः संरब्धः समयॊधयत ।। १-१८१-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'Incensed by the unparalleled strength and energy of Arjuna's arms, Karna, the son of Surya, fought with renewed vigor and determination.' ।। 1-181-13 ।।

english translation

tatò 'rajunasya bhujayòra vIryama apratimaM bhuvi jaJAtvA vaikartanaH karNaH saMrabdhaH samayòdhayata || 1-181-13 ||

hk transliteration

अर्जुनेन परयुक्तांस तान बाणान वेगवतस तदा परतिहत्य ननादॊच्चैः सैन्यास तम अभिपूजयन ।। १-१८१-१४ ।।

sanskrit

'Karna repelled those swift arrows shot by Arjuna, and roared loudly in triumph, while the warriors praised him enthusiastically.' ।। 1-181-14 ।।

english translation

arjunena parayuktAMsa tAna bANAna vegavatasa tadA paratihatya nanAdòccaiH sainyAsa tama abhipUjayana || 1-181-14 ||

hk transliteration

[कर्ण] तुष्यामि ते विप्रमुख्यभुजवीर्यस्य संयुगे अविषादस्य चैवास्य शस्त्रास्त्रविनयस्य च ।। १-१८१-१५ ।।

sanskrit

'Then, addressing his opponent, Karna said, "O foremost of Brahmanas, I am pleased to witness the unyielding strength of your arms in battle and the excellence of your weapons, both perfectly suited for achieving victory."' ।। 1-181-15 ।।
