[वै] अजिनानि विधुन्वन्तः करकांश च दविजर्षभाः ऊचुस तं भीर न कर्तव्या वयं यॊत्स्यामहे परान ॥ १-१८१-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "Then those esteemed Brahmanas, wielding their deer-skins and water-pots made of cocoanut-shells, declared, 'Fear not, we shall combat the enemy!"' ॥ 1-181-1 ॥
english translation
[vai] ajinAni vidhunvantaH karakAMza ca davijarSabhAH Ucusa taM bhIra na kartavyA vayaM yòtsyAmahe parAna ॥ 1-181-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतान एवं वदतॊ विप्रान अर्जुनः परहसन्न इव उवाच परेक्षका भूत्वा यूयं तिष्ठत पार्श्वतः ॥ १-१८१-२ ॥
'Arjuna, smilingly addressing those Brahmanas who spoke thus, transformed into an observer and said, "You all stand by my side."' ॥ 1-181-2 ॥
english translation
tAna evaM vadatò viprAna arjunaH parahasanna iva uvAca parekSakA bhUtvA yUyaM tiSThata pArzvataH ॥ 1-181-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअहम एनान अजिह्माग्रैः शतशॊ विकिरञ शरैः वारयिष्यामि संक्रुद्धान मन्त्रैर आशीविषान इव ॥ १-१८१-३ ॥
'"I will shower hundreds of arrows with straight points to check those angry monarchs, just like snakes neutralize their foes with mantras," Arjuna declared confidently.' ॥ 1-181-3 ॥

ahama enAna ajihmAgraiH zatazò vikiraJa zaraiH vArayiSyAmi saMkruddhAna mantraira AzIviSAna iva ॥ 1-181-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइति तद धनुर आदाय शुल्कावाप्तं महारथः भरात्रा भीमेन सहितस तस्थौ गिरिर इवाचलः ॥ १-१८१-४ ॥
'Having said this, the mighty Arjuna took up the bow he had obtained as dowry and stood steadfast with his brother Bhima, immovable like a mountain.' ॥ 1-181-4 ॥

iti tada dhanura AdAya zulkAvAptaM mahArathaH bharAtrA bhImena sahitasa tasthau girira ivAcalaH ॥ 1-181-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः कर्ण मुखान करुद्धान कषत्रियांस तान रुषॊत्थितान संपेततुर अभीतौ तौ गजौ परतिगजान इव ॥ १-१८१-५ ॥
'And seeing those perpetually furious Kshatriyas advancing with Karna at their head, the valiant brothers fearlessly rushed at them like two elephants charging against a hostile elephant.' ॥ 1-181-5 ॥

tataH karNa mukhAna karuddhAna kaSatriyAMsa tAna ruSòtthitAna saMpetatura abhItau tau gajau paratigajAna iva ॥ 1-181-5 ॥
