तं वृक्षम आदाय रिपुप्रमाथी; दण्डीव दण्डं पितृराज उग्रम तस्थौ समीपे पुरुषर्षभस्य; पार्थस्य पार्थः पृथु दीर्घबाहुः ॥ १-१८०-१६ ॥
'Taking up a tree like a mighty staff, the valiant destroyer of enemies, the great archer son of Prithu (Arjuna) with long arms, stood near the supreme man (Krishna).' ॥ 1-180-16 ॥
english translation
taM vRkSama AdAya ripupramAthI; daNDIva daNDaM pitRrAja ugrama tasthau samIpe puruSarSabhasya; pArthasya pArthaH pRthu dIrghabAhuH ॥ 1-180-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत परेक्ष्य कर्मातिमनुष्य बुद्धेर; जिष्णॊः सहभ्रातुर अचिन्त्यकर्मा दामॊदरॊ भरातरम उग्रवीर्यं; हलायुधं वाक्यम इदं बभाषे ॥ १-१८०-१७ ॥
'And witnessing the remarkable feats of both Jishnu and his brother, Damodara (Krishna), renowned for their extraordinary intelligence and inconceivable achievements, addressed his brother Halayudha (Baladeva), known for his fierce energy, saying:' ॥ 1-180-17 ॥

tata parekSya karmAtimanuSya buddhera; jiSNòH sahabhrAtura acintyakarmA dAmòdarò bharAtarama ugravIryaM; halAyudhaM vAkyama idaM babhASe ॥ 1-180-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptय एष मत्तर्षभ तुल्यगामी; महद धनुः कर्षति तालमात्रम एषॊ ऽरजुनॊ नात्र विचार्यम अस्ति; यद्य अस्मि संकर्षण वासुदेवः ॥ १-१८०-१८ ॥
'That hero there, whose stride resembles that of a mighty lion, and who draws the bow in his hand, which is four full cubits in length, is Arjuna! There is no doubt about this, O Sankarshana, if I am Vasudeva.' ॥ 1-180-18 ॥

ya eSa mattarSabha tulyagAmI; mahada dhanuH karSati tAlamAtrama eSò 'rajunò nAtra vicAryama asti; yadya asmi saMkarSaNa vAsudevaH ॥ 1-180-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptय एष वृक्षं तरसावरुज्य; राज्ञां विकारे सहसा निवृत्तः वृकॊदरॊ नान्य इहैतद अद्य कर्तुं; समर्थॊ भुवि मर्त्यधर्मा ॥ १-१८०-१९ ॥
'The other hero who swiftly uprooted the tree and now stands prepared to repel the monarchs is Vrikodara! Indeed, in this battlefield today, no one else but Vrikodara could perform such a feat.' ॥ 1-180-19 ॥

ya eSa vRkSaM tarasAvarujya; rAjJAM vikAre sahasA nivRttaH vRkòdarò nAnya ihaitada adya kartuM; samarthò bhuvi martyadharmA ॥ 1-180-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयॊ ऽसौ पुरस्तात कमलायताक्षस; तनुर महासिंहगतिर विनीतः गौरः परलम्बॊज्ज्वल चारु घॊणॊ; विनिःसृतः सॊ ऽचयुत धर्मराजः ॥ १-१८०-२० ॥
'And the youth with eyes resembling lotus petals, standing at a height of four cubits, possessing the majestic gait of a lion, yet humble, fair-skinned with a prominent and radiant nose, who recently left the amphitheater, is Yudhishthira, the son of Dharma.' ॥ 1-180-20 ॥

yò 'sau purastAta kamalAyatAkSasa; tanura mahAsiMhagatira vinItaH gauraH paralambòjjvala cAru ghòNò; viniHsRtaH sò 'cayuta dharmarAjaH ॥ 1-180-20 ॥
