इत्य उक्त्वा राजशार्दूला हृष्टाः परिघबाहवः दरुपदं संजिघृक्षन्तः सायुधाः समुपाद्रवन ।। १-१८०-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Having thus addressed each other, those mighty monarchs, armed with weapons resembling spiked iron maces, then took up their arms and rushed towards Drupada to slay him on the spot.' ।। 1-180-11 ।।

english translation

itya uktvA rAjazArdUlA hRSTAH parighabAhavaH darupadaM saMjighRkSantaH sAyudhAH samupAdravana || 1-180-11 ||

hk transliteration

तान गृहीतशरावापान करुद्धान आपततॊ नृपान दरुपदॊ वीक्ष्य संत्रासाद बराह्मणाञ शरणं गतः ।। १-१८०-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'And as Drupada beheld those enraged monarchs rushing towards him all at once with bows and arrows, he sought the protection of the Brahmanas out of fear.' ।। 1-180-12 ।।

english translation

tAna gRhItazarAvApAna karuddhAna Apatatò nRpAna darupadò vIkSya saMtrAsAda barAhmaNAJa zaraNaM gataH || 1-180-12 ||

वेगेनापततस तांस तु परभिन्नान इव वारणान पाण्डुपुत्रौ महावीर्यौ परतीयतुर अरिंदमौ ।। १-१८०-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'But the mighty bowmen Bhima and Arjuna of the Pandavas, capable of chastising all foes, advanced to confront those monarchs rushing towards them impetuously, resembling elephants in the season of rut.' ।। 1-180-13 ।।

english translation

vegenApatatasa tAMsa tu parabhinnAna iva vAraNAna pANDuputrau mahAvIryau paratIyatura ariMdamau || 1-180-13 ||

ततः समुत्पेतुर उदायुधास ते; महीक्षितॊ बद्धतलाङ्गुलित्राः जिघांसमानाः कुरुराजपुत्राव; अमर्षयन्तॊ ऽरजुन भीमसेनौ ।। १-१८०-१४ ।।

sanskrit

'Then the monarchs, with their fingers gloved and weapons raised, rushed in anger towards the Kuru princes, Bhima and Arjuna, intending to slay them.' ।। 1-180-14 ।।

english translation

tataH samutpetura udAyudhAsa te; mahIkSitò baddhatalAGgulitrAH jighAMsamAnAH kururAjaputrAva; amarSayantò 'rajuna bhImasenau || 1-180-14 ||

ततस तु भीमॊ ऽदभुतवीर्यकर्मा; महाबलॊ वज्रसमानवीर्यः उत्पाट्य दॊर्भ्यां दरुमम एकवीरॊ; निष्पत्रयाम आस यथा गजेन्द्रः ।। १-१८०-१५ ।।

sanskrit

'Seeing this, the mighty Bhima, known for his extraordinary feats and strength like that of thunder, uprooted a large tree and stripped it of its leaves, much like an elephant would.' ।। 1-180-15 ।।

english translation

tatasa tu bhImò 'dabhutavIryakarmA; mahAbalò vajrasamAnavIryaH utpATya dòrbhyAM darumama ekavIrò; niSpatrayAma Asa yathA gajendraH || 1-180-15 ||
