अरण्यं निर्जनं गत्वा सदारः परिचक्रमे नानामृगगणाकीर्णं नाना सत्त्वसमाकुलम ॥ १-१७३-६ ॥
'Having reached a desolate forest, the king, accompanied by his wife, roamed there constantly, encountering diverse groups of animals and teeming with various forms of life.' ॥ 1-173-6 ॥
english translation
नानागुल्मलताच्छन्नं नानाद्रुमसमावृतम अरण्यं घॊरसंनादं शापग्रस्तः परिभ्रमन ॥ १-१७३-७ ॥
'One day, while he was under the influence of the curse, he roamed through that forest abundant with various kinds of deer and other animals, overgrown with numerous large trees, shrubs, and creepers, and echoing with terrifying cries.' ॥ 1-173-7 ॥
english translation
स कदा चित कषुधाविष्टॊ मृगयन भक्षम आत्मनः ददर्श सुपरिक्लिष्टः कस्मिंश चिद वननिर्झरे बराह्मणीं बराह्मणं चैव मैथुनायॊपसंगतौ ॥ १-१७३-८ ॥
'Driven by extreme hunger, the king began to search desperately for food. Eventually, in a secluded part of the forest, he came upon a Brahmin and his wife engaged in intimate relations.' ॥ 1-173-8 ॥
english translation
तौ समीक्ष्य तु वित्रस्ताव अकृतार्थौ परधावितौ तयॊश च दरवतॊर विप्रं जगृहे नृपतिर बलात ॥ १-१७३-९ ॥
'Alarmed at the sight of the monarch, the couple ran away, their desire ungratified. However, the king pursued the retreating pair and forcibly seized the Brahmana.' ॥ 1-173-9 ॥

दृष्ट्वा गृहीतं भर्तारम अथ बराह्मण्य अभाषत शृणु राजन वचॊ मह्यं यत तवां वक्ष्यामि सुव्रत ॥ १-१७३-१० ॥
'Having seen her husband seized, the Brahmana's wife then spoke to the king, "Listen, O King, to my words, which I shall speak sincerely."' ॥ 1-173-10 ॥
