ततॊ मही परविचलिता सकानना; महाद्रिपाताभिहता समन्ततः परस्परं भृशम अभिगर्जतां मुहू; रणाजिरे भृशम अभिसंप्रवर्तिते ।। १-१७-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'And when thousands of warriors shouted without intermission in the field of battle and mountains with the woods thereon began to fall around, the earth with her forests trembled.' ।। 1-17-26 ।।

english translation

tatò mahI paravicalitA sakAnanA; mahAdripAtAbhihatA samantataH parasparaM bhRzama abhigarjatAM muhU; raNAjire bhRzama abhisaMpravartite || 1-17-26 ||

hk transliteration

नरस ततॊ वरकनकाग्र भूषणैर; महेषुभिर गगनपथं समावृणॊत विदारयन गिरिशिखराणि पत्रिभिर; महाभये ऽसुर गणविग्रहे तदा ।। १-१७-२७ ।।

sanskrit

'Then the divine Nara appeared at the scene of the dreadful conflict between the Asuras and the Ganas (the followers of Rudra), and reducing to dust those rocks using his gold-headed arrows, he covered the heavens with dust.' ।। 1-17-27 ।।

english translation

narasa tatò varakanakAgra bhUSaNaira; maheSubhira gaganapathaM samAvRNòta vidArayana girizikharANi patribhira; mahAbhaye 'sura gaNavigrahe tadA || 1-17-27 ||

ततॊ महीं लवणजलं च सागरं; महासुराः परविविशुर अर्दिताः सुरैः वियद गतं जवलितहुताशनप्रभं; सुदर्शनं परिकुपितं निशाम्य च ।। १-१७-२८ ।।

sanskrit

'Thus discomfited by the gods, and seeing the furious discus scouring the fields of heaven like a blazing flame, the mighty Danavas entered the bowels of the earth, while others plunged into the sea of salt-waters.' ।। 1-17-28 ।।

english translation

tatò mahIM lavaNajalaM ca sAgaraM; mahAsurAH paravivizura arditAH suraiH viyada gataM javalitahutAzanaprabhaM; sudarzanaM parikupitaM nizAmya ca || 1-17-28 ||

hk transliteration

ततः सुरैर विजयम अवाप्य मन्दरः; सवम एव देशं गमितः सुपूजितः विनाद्य खं दिवम अपि चैव सर्वशस; ततॊ गताः सलिलधरा यथागतम ।। १-१७-२९ ।।

sanskrit

'Thereafter, having achieved victory with the help of the gods, Mandara, highly adorned, returned to his abode. Resounding loudly, the entire sky and heaven reverberated with jubilation. Then, like celestial rivers, the waters flowed in their respective courses.' ।। 1-17-29 ।।

english translation

tataH suraira vijayama avApya mandaraH; savama eva dezaM gamitaH supUjitaH vinAdya khaM divama api caiva sarvazasa; tatò gatAH saliladharA yathAgatama || 1-17-29 ||

hk transliteration

ततॊ ऽमृतं सुनिहितम एव चक्रिरे; सुराः परां मुदम अभिगम्य पुष्कलाम ददौ च तं निधिम अमृतस्य रक्षितुं; किरीटिने बलभिद अथामरैः सह ।। १-१७-३० ।।

sanskrit

'And having gained the victory, the gods offered due respect to Mandara and placed him again on his own base. And the nectar-bearing gods made the heavens resound with their shouts and went to their abodes. And the gods, on returning to the heavens, rejoiced greatly, and Indra and the other deities made over to Narayana the vessel of Amrita for careful keeping.' ।। 1-17-30 ।।

english translation

tatò 'mRtaM sunihitama eva cakrire; surAH parAM mudama abhigamya puSkalAma dadau ca taM nidhima amRtasya rakSituM; kirITine balabhida athAmaraiH saha || 1-17-30 ||
