तातेति परिपूर्णार्थं तस्य तन मधुरं वचः अदृश्यन्त्य अश्रुपूर्णाक्षी शृण्वन्ती तम उवाच ह ॥ १-१६९-६ ॥
'Upon hearing her son sweetly utter the very intelligible word "father," Adrisyanti, with tearful eyes, addressed him.' ॥ 1-169-6 ॥
english translation
मा तात तात तातेति न ते तातॊ महामुनिः रक्षसा भक्षितस तात तव तातॊ वनान्तरे ॥ १-१६९-७ ॥
'She said, "O child, do not address this man as your father. Your father, my son, has been devoured by a Rakshasa in another forest."' ॥ 1-169-7 ॥
english translation
मन्यसे यं तु तातेति नैष तातस तवानघ आर्यस तव एष पिता तस्य पितुस तव महात्मनः ॥ १-१६९-८ ॥
'O innocent one, he whom you regard as your father is not truly so. The revered one is the father of your celebrated father.' ॥ 1-169-8 ॥
english translation
स एवम उक्तॊ दुःखार्तः सत्यवाग ऋषिसत्तमः सर्वलॊकविनाशाय मतिं चक्रे महामनाः ॥ १-१६९-९ ॥
'Upon hearing his mother's words, the best of sages, known for his truthful speech, initially succumbed to sorrow, but soon thereafter, he became resolute and determined to destroy the entire creation.' ॥ 1-169-9 ॥

तं तथा निश्चितात्मानं महात्मानं महातपाः वसिष्ठॊ वारयाम आस हेतुना येन तच छृणु ॥ १-१६९-१० ॥
'Vasishtha, the great sage of firm resolve and great austerity, tried to dissuade him using various reasons.' ॥ 1-169-10 ॥
