[ग] आश्रमस्था ततः पुत्रम अदृश्यन्ती वयजायत शक्तेः कुलकरं राजन दवितीयम इव शक्तिनम ॥ १-१६९-१ ॥
'Continuing, the Gandharva said, 'Then, O Partha, Adrisyanti, who had been dwelling in Vasishtha's hermitage, gave birth to a son who carried forward Shakti's lineage and resembled a second Shakti in every aspect.'' ॥ 1-169-1 ॥
english translation
जातकर्मादिकास तस्य करियाः स मुनिपुंगवः पौत्रस्य भरतश्रेष्ठ चकार भगवान सवयम ॥ १-१६९-२ ॥
'O foremost among Bharatas, the illustrious Vasishtha himself conducted the customary post-birth rituals for his grandson, the best of Munis.' ॥ 1-169-2 ॥
english translation
परासुश च यतस तेन वसिष्ठः सथापितस तदा गर्भस्थेन ततॊ लॊके पराशर इति समृतः ॥ १-१६९-३ ॥
'As soon as the Rishi Vasishtha, who had resolved upon self-destruction, refrained from it upon learning about the existence of that child, he named the newborn Parasara (the reviver of the dead).' ॥ 1-169-3 ॥
english translation
अमन्यत स धर्मात्मा वसिष्ठं पितरं तदा जन्मप्रभृति तस्मिंश च पितरीव वयवर्तत ॥ १-१६९-४ ॥
'The righteous one then considered Vasishtha as his father and treated him like a father from the very moment of his birth.' ॥ 1-169-4 ॥

स तात इति विप्रर्षिं वसिष्ठं परत्यभाषत मातुः समक्षं कौन्तेय अदृश्यन्त्याः परंतप ॥ १-१६९-५ ॥
'Addressing the sage Vasishtha as "father," O son of Kunti, he then turned to the venerable Brahmana and spoke, while his mother Adrisyanti looked on.' ॥ 1-169-5 ॥
