सा तम अग्निसमं विप्रम अनुचिन्त्य सरिद वरा शतधा विद्रुता यस्माच छतद्रुर इति विश्रुता ॥ १-१६७-९ ॥
'However, mistaking the Brahmana for an unquenchable mass of fire, the river immediately split into a hundred different courses. Since then, it has been known as the Satadru, the river of a hundred courses.' ॥ 1-167-9 ॥
