एवम उक्तस तदा सूदः सॊ ऽनासाद्यामिषं कव चित निवेदयाम आस तदा तस्मै राज्ञे वयथान्वितः ॥ १-१६६-२६ ॥
'The Gandharva continued, 'Following the command, the cook ventured out in search of meat. Distressed by his inability to find any, he reported his failure to the king.'' ॥ 1-166-26 ॥
english translation
राजा तु रक्षसाविष्टः सूदम आह गतव्यथः अप्य एनं नरमांसेन भॊजयेति पुनः पुनः ॥ १-१६६-२७ ॥
'The monarch, under the influence of the Rakshasa, unhesitatingly insisted, time and again, "Feed him with human flesh."' ॥ 1-166-27 ॥
english translation
तथेत्य उक्त्वा ततः सूदः संस्थानं वध्य घातिनाम गत्वा जहार तवरितॊ नरमांसम अपेतभीः ॥ १-१६६-२८ ॥
'Saying "So be it," the cook swiftly proceeded to the slaughterhouse and swiftly obtained human flesh, devoid of any fear.' ॥ 1-166-28 ॥
english translation
स तत संस्कृत्य विधिवद अन्नॊपहितम आशु वै तस्मै परादाद बराह्मणाय कषुधिताय तपस्विने ॥ १-१६६-२९ ॥
'Having sanctified the food as per the rituals, he quickly served it to the Brahmin, who was fervently engaged in his penances, to relieve his hunger.' ॥ 1-166-29 ॥

स सिद्धचक्षुषा दृष्ट्वा तदन्नं दविजसत्तमः अभॊज्यम इदम इत्य आह करॊधपर्याकुलेक्षणः ॥ १-१६६-३० ॥
'Observing the food with his clairvoyant vision, the noble Brahmin realized it was unfit to eat and said, with eyes filled with anger, "This food is not fit to be consumed."' ॥ 1-166-30 ॥
