तम उवाचाथ राजर्षिर दविजं मित्रसहस तदा आस्स्व बरह्मंस तवम अत्रैव मुहूर्तम इति सान्त्वयन ॥ १-१६६-२१ ॥
'The royal sage, Kalmashapada, the friend of all, replied to the Brahmin, saying, "Remain here, O Brahmin, just for a moment."' ॥ 1-166-21 ॥
english translation
निवृत्तः परतिदास्यामि भॊजनं ते यथेप्सितम इत्य उक्त्वा परययौ राजा तस्थौ च दविजसत्तमः ॥ १-१६६-२२ ॥
'"On my return, I will provide you with whatever food you desire," declared the monarch before leaving, while the Brahmin remained in the same place.' ॥ 1-166-22 ॥
english translation
अन्तर्गतं तु तद राज्ञस तदा बराह्मण भाषितम सॊ ऽनतःपुरं परविश्याथ संविवेश नराधिपः ॥ १-१६६-२३ ॥
'Upon hearing the words of the king, the Brahmin entered the palace as directed and the king, O ruler of men, also entered his inner chambers.' ॥ 1-166-23 ॥
english translation
ततॊ ऽरधरात्र उत्थाय सूदम आनाय्य सत्वरम उवाच राजा संस्मृत्य बराह्मणस्य परतिश्रुतम ॥ १-१६६-२४ ॥
'Then, rising at midnight, the king hastily summoned Sudaama and instructed him to bring the Brahmin. Remembering the Brahmin's request, the king spoke.' ॥ 1-166-24 ॥

गच्छामुष्मिन्न असौ देशे बराह्मणॊ मां परतीक्षते अन्नार्थी तवं तन अन्नेन समांसेनॊपपादय ॥ १-१६६-२५ ॥
'He ordered, "Quickly go to that forest where a Brahmin awaits me, hoping for food. Provide him with a meal, including meat."' ॥ 1-166-25 ॥
