वसिष्ठेनाभ्यनुज्ञातस तस्मिन्न एव धराधरे सॊ ऽकामयत राजर्षिर विहर्तुं सह भार्यया ॥ १-१६३-११ ॥
'With the sage Vasishtha's blessing, King Samvarana, now a royal ascetic, yearns to sojourn with his beloved Tapati amidst the sacred solitude of that very mountain peak.' ॥ 1-163-11 ॥

ततः पुरे च राष्ट्रे च वाहनेषु बलेषु च आदिदेश महीपालस तम एव सचिवं तदा ॥ १-१६३-१२ ॥
'Before embarking on his spiritual retreat with Tapati, King Samvarana entrusts his trusted minister with the comprehensive governance of his realm, encompassing the capital, territories, military forces, and royal conveyances.' ॥ 1-163-12 ॥

नृपतिं तव अभ्यनुज्ञाय वसिष्ठॊ ऽथापचक्रमे सॊ ऽपि राजा गिरौ तस्मिन विजहारामरॊपमः ॥ १-१६३-१३ ॥
'With Sage Vasishtha's hallowed benediction, King Samvarana embarks on his celestial sojourn atop the sacred mountain, where, in the company of his divine bride Tapati, he revels in bliss akin to the deathless gods.' ॥ 1-163-13 ॥

ततॊ दवादश वर्षाणि काननेषु जलेषु च रेमे तस्मिन गिरौ राजा तयैव सह भार्यया ॥ १-१६३-१४ ॥
'For twelve celestial years, King Samvarana and his radiant queen Tapati immerse themselves in the divine rapture of their love, reveling amidst the primordial purity of forests and waters that adorn their mountain sanctuary.' ॥ 1-163-14 ॥

तस्य राज्ञः पुरे तस्मिन समा दवादश सर्वशः न ववर्ष सहस्राक्षॊ राष्ट्रे चैवास्य सर्वशः ॥ १-१६३-१५ ॥
'As King Samvarana and Queen Tapati bask in their mountain paradise, a grave calamity befalls his realm: for the full span of twelve years, Indra, the thousand-eyed lord of the heavens, withholds his life-giving rains from the royal city and every corner of the kingdom.' ॥ 1-163-15 ॥
